The INFLUENCE OF GREEN TEA EXTRACT ON ESTROGEN RECEPTOR-α EXPRESSION AND ENDOMETRIUM THICKNESS IN FEMALE RAT EXPOSED BY MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE
Abstract
The aims of this study to find out influence of green tea extract on estrogen receptor-α expression and endometrial thickness in female rat exposed by MSG. It is an experimental study with 25 female rat samples divided into 5 groups. Those are control negative (without treatment), control positive (treated MSG 140 mg /200 grBW), 3 treatment groups were given exposure by MSG 140 mg /200 grBW and green tea extract with 3 different doses of 0.7 mg/rat/day, 1,4 mg/rat/day, 1,8 mg/rat/day. Exposure of MSG and various doses green tea extracts is given for 30 days. Expression of ER-α using Immunohistochemistry method and endometrial thickness with Hematocycline Eosin staining. Data were analyzed using the One Way Anova test. Based on the results of multiple comparison test with LSD test showed that the highest average ER-α expression was seen in the treatment group given MSG and green tea extract dose 1.4 mg/rat/day (45.37 ± 6.46) but decreased in the treatment group MSG and green tea extract dose 1.8 mg/rat/day (43.05 ± 4.54). The highest mean value of endometrial thickness was seen in the treatment group given MSG and green tea extract dose 1.4 mg/rat/day (500.17 ± 15.3) but decreased in the treatment group given MSG and green tea extract dose 1.8 mg/rat/day (461.77 ± 39.99). In this study shows of the administration of various doses green tea extracts can increase the expression of ER-α and endometrial thickness in rat exposed by monosodium glutamate.
